Yuki & Yaki

Watched 300 today. It's a nice show.. with fantasy aspects like a gollum-lookalike and really ugly immortals and creatures. Go watch it if you haven't! Remember to check out the Spartan's bodies. ;) I'll give the show a 4/5 coco crunches.

Dinner was at Yuki & Yaki... you can pay $2 for the ice-cream buffet which isn't very nice but it's a lot of fun. Check out the sprite snow-dog. It was intended to look like a snowman but with some creativity, it looks like a dog.

Ok, another weekend well-spent. Can't wait for the next weekend!

One life, with each other. Sister, brother.
One life but we're not the same.

SH family day

It was SH family day yesterday. I believe it was the first family day ever for Sheares. (Is it?) At least it was the grandest ever. As in tua zhong la. The first thing I saw when I walked up the slope was this huge air-filled castle meant for bouncing kids. LIKE WTF. BUT IT WAS DAMN FUN. I'm sure the number of times I've jumped in bouncy castles when I was below 30kg can be counted with just one hand. Jumping in it again was reliving childhood. Lol. Check out the 2 big kids wrestling.

Other than the bouncy castle, there was a bungee trampoline, a dunking machine (see Kenny below), a lucky draw box for the lucky to stand inside and grab pieces of flying papers to determine what prize they get (Recall those lucky draw sessions on the show PSC nite.. hosted by Chen Shu Cheng uncle. Don't remember PSC nite? It's the variety show with really stupid advertisements.) AND SERM WON THE TOP PRIZE. A PSP! And I won my first lucky draw ever. Gave the prize to my brother cuz it's a soccer ball.

And there were other games to play and my favourite has to be Bingo even though I didn't win anything. Maybe cuz it's like gambling. Aaron won a NYDC voucher from Bingo. Bleah.

Fun!

That's it for this weekend.

how my workplace looks from the perspective of a 2mp handphone cam.

PRESENTING:
The 24th storey of the "proudest-looking building in CBD"
My desk. Feel free to buy me things for me to put at my desk. Or my chair. Like really nice-looking and huggable cushion. Or a non-catholic themed table 2007 calender will be nice. Yes, I have 2 lcd screens looking at me everyday.

This is what I see when I look up from the screens. The glass right at the end of the office, is where the 3 directors' offices are. See an entrance on the left wall? Shen Jau sits in front of that entrace. Er, that's where the ladies washroom is.
And when I turn to my right, this is what I see. LOVE IT. When evening comes, the view looks like it's a humougous poster pasted on a wall outside of the glass. Now, I just wish I could have a desk near the glass. Maybe I will, someday. ;)

View from the pantry. That's the Benjamin Sheares bridge. And the river.

Work in progress - the giant ferris wheel. (Lousy zoom function. )

TGIF

So it's friday. Stayed back voluntarily to clear the backlog of work that has been piling up for a week cuz a guy resigned and there isn't really time to finish up everything. Cleared 2/3 of the work during the 2 hour OT. Me and another new girl aim to reduce the backlog to zero by tuesday. It's possible. Do OT lor.

I thought 2 hour OT on a friday = workaholism. Then I saw Shen Jau (the SH Geyao guy who sings damn well) still at his desk at 11.20pm when he actually came in at 9 for training this morning. 14 hours at the office and the clock's still ticking. Then I realise that my team leader, he does 3 hour OT or more every single day. They win.

Woohoo. It's friday. zzzzzzzzz.

Tremors... What tremors?

Singapore's Meteorological Services Division said the first tremors were felt at about 11.50am after an earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale struck Padang in Sumatra. The epicentre was 50 kilometres north-northeast of Padang and some 430 kilometres south-west of Singapore. The second round of tremors occurred around 1.50pm after another earthquake, also measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale, struck Padang. - CNA

I arrived at the office around 11.55am to find no one else in the office but the level warden at the end of the office and some ang moh lady at the far end doing her work. It is usual for the office to be only 1/4 full cuz 3/4 of the office work the UK shift.

Then I received a msg from my colleague to stay downstairs and not go up to the office cuz they felt tremors. Like wtf. I just took the elevator up 24 floors while the rest were being evacuated via the stairwell. So I went to look for the level warden and he explained to me that only our part of the office evacuated cuz nowhere else in the building felt the tremors but level 24. Thing is, there're 2 parts of level 24, one that face the sea, and one that face the rest of CBD. We face the sea (freaking good view), so we felt the tremors. OK. So I asked him if I should go down and he said there was no need to cuz he got the message that everything's ok. Fine. So I went back to my desk and started checking emails while the rest of the office were still walking down the stairs.

15 minutes later, everyone came back. With the legs weak going down 24 levels HAHAHA. But I was very sian cuz I missed the tremors. Usually I'll arrive at the office at 11.40am but I went to the bank today to settle my loans stuff, so I reached the office slightly later than usual, but still early for work. Otherwise, I would've felt the tremors! I don't wish to die, or for the building I work in to collapse, but I just want to experience how it feels like. Anyway, we got on with work at usual.

Went for lunch at 1.40pm. Saw a lot of people standing around. A colleague was pointing to a bunch of people and she went "Wah got queue!! What is it??". Figured those people evacuated their buildings. Thought of Daniel so I smsed him if he felt the tremors earlier, and he replied "it just shook again!!". A friend who works on level 24 then smsed me and asked me where was I cuz my office shook again. BUT IM OUTSIDE FOR GODDAMN LUNCH LA. Missed the tremors again!!!!!

Sian. Talk about being in the right place at the right time. It's a good thing to not feel the tremors I guess. But I just want to know how it feels like la.

Ok, I know there're casualties in Indonesia, and my entry may seem inappropriate, but I'm just saying you know?

Some Indonesian must have offended the big one up there. Ferries sink. Planes crash. Earthquakes. Tsunami. Damn jialat.

bah

3 more days and I don't have to drive with a P-plate. But we've returned the car.. so it's 100% public transport from today onwards.

I'm becoming a passenger.. again.

I'm a Cyborg, but that's ok is not as nice as I thought it would be. I'll give it a 1.5/5 coco crunches. Don't watch it unless you feel like wasting your money and time, or if you really like Rain. His performances in the 2 k-dramas I've watched were way better in my opinion.

Nothing else to say.
